New mindful photography monthly membership
I wanted to write a little bit about my new monthly photography membership that will start on November 16th. Is open for registration for founding members now!
2020 has been a difficult year in so many ways and I have noticed many people struggling with issues from being isolated, stuck in, alone, not being able to travel, monetary worries, and health issues. I believe wholeheartedly that creativity can be extremely helpful in these current circumstances.
Mindfulness is a way to improve health and well being as well as improve self-esteem. And what better way to practice is than through image-making. Many don’t even realise they are doing – it is that easy a way to be mindful. When you go out with your camera, you are concentrating on looking around, noticing shape, form, light, concentrating on what you are looking to create. You become completely absorbed in that for as long as you are photographing. So, therefore, encouraging more photography is my way of helping and supporting others during this time. I know it has worked for me during the past few months more than ever.
I can see everyone wanting to take photographs and learn, but the physical meetups have been rare, and opportunities to travel are limited.
But the silver lining is that online learning and support each other through the likes of zoom has become accepted and normal. This now allows me to effectively reach anyone around the world which is wonderful.
So I wanted to create something where I could provide ongoing support and inspiration to many people as opposed to just those I teach on a 1-2-1 basis or in smaller programmes. Something which is an affordable way for people to gain ongoing teaching at a level where they do not have to commit huge chunks of time at once.
The result is Creative Haven. This is intended to be a safe space for like-minded people to come together with a. Shared love of photography and creativity. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner with an iPhone. Everyone is equal here and creativity is open to everyone. I will be putting together monthly teaching around a variety of subjects such as long exposures, textures, ICM, mindfulness. Alongside guest expert interviews and videos to inspire and motivate you to do some photography.
